Civic Projects – Work Party

Please join me next Thursday, September 25, from 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
at Wojan’s Woods on Davenport Road (off New Britain Avenue, near
Wolcott School).

Over the past two years, members of the West Hartford Garden Club and
Traprock Ridge Land Conservancy (TRLC) have devoted many hours to
restoring this beautiful urban woodland. We’d love your help once
again as we prepare to celebrate its restoration on October 5, 2025!

Planned activities include:

Planting ferns, Clethra (Sweet Pepperbush), native hydrangea, willow,
and Eupatorium (boneset)

Maintaining trails, benches, and beds

Removing invasive plants

Transplanting existing sedges, time permitting

What to bring:

Work clothes, sturdy shoes, and tools

Wheelbarrow (if available)

Optional: native plants to donate (fern, Turtlehead, Foamflower, or
Canadian Ginger)

Please let me know if you need a map to the site. Call me anytime with
questions or concerns. And please let me know if you can come so I can
better plan for getting the tasks completed!
