“Top 30 Plants for your Landscape”

Kaitlyn, who has a special interest in landscape design, will share with us her top 30 plants to use in our landscapes.

The Show is FREE and open to the public Friday, March 3, through Friday, March 10, from 10 am to 4 pm. Included in the floral display: French hyacinths, Muscari, tulips, daffodils, amaryllis, scented geraniums, pansies, trellised sweet peas, culinary herbs, hanging baskets, Spanish oregano, Alpine strawberries, Dianthus, and a collection of tropical plants and succulents.
In preparation for our March 18, 2023 Grand Opening of our Seed Library at the Noah Webster (main branch) of the West Hartford Public Library, we need help with applying our WHGC logo stickers to seed packets. Guided instruction will be provided. It’s easy and fun!
WHEN: 3/13/23 and 3/14/23, 11 am – 1 pm
WHERE: Main library near the reference desk
Helpers can park in the Isham lot and go to the library’s Info desk for parking ticket validation for up to 4 hours, if you provide your license plate number.

Susan Grew, Debbie Lynch and Maureen Gould agreed to do a table for the Avon Historical Society “Tablescapes” event. The event raises funds to restore the 1823 schoolhouse #3 on Route 44 in Avon.
They are entering as members of the West Hartford Garden Club and hope by being participants in this event, attendance at our Garden Tour will be reciprocated by members of the Historical Society as well. Their theme is “Spring at the Pond.” Attendees can vote for their favorite Tablescape for prizes!
The event will be held on Friday, March 17, (10 am to 7 pm) and Saturday, March 18, (10 am to 5 pm) at the historic North House, in the Belle Ballroom, 1 Nod Road, Avon.
Tickets are $15 if purchased 24 hours before event, $20 at the door. Tickets can be ordered on-line www.avonhistoricalsociety.org and held at the door for you. Maureen has some tickets available and can deliver them to you (first come, first serve) by Thursday, March 16. If you’d like a ticket, please call Maureen at 860-523-9126 — leave a message if she is not available and she will get back to you!
