Field Trip – Enders Island, Mystic, CT @ St. Edmund's Retreat Center

The Field Trip Committee is planning on an outing to the St. Edmund’s Retreat Center on Enders Island, Mystic, CT, on Thursday September 12, to see the 2,000 Dahlia sanctuary on 11 acres along the shore. This was the home of Dr. Thomas and Alys Enders who gifted the home and land in 1954. Rain date will be Friday September 13.

We will have a guided tour (beginning at 11 am) followed by box lunch of cranberry salad wrap, cape cod potato chips, pickle, chocolate chip cookie and water bottle to enjoy around the property at various tables and chairs or on a rock by the water. They have seating to accommodate 30 people around the gardens.

Indicate when submitting check if you have any dietary restrictions. They can accommodate most restrictions. Car pooling will be coordinated so please indicate when signing up if you are willing to drive others and if you do NOT require carpooling. Final count will be taken on September 3rd.

Please bring your favorite tools for weeding and pruning. A co-chair will arrive at the garden by 8:30 a.m.

PARKING: Parking will be in the paved lot next to the Amos Bull House on South Prospect Street. We encourage you to carpool as space is limited.

We plan to work if the rain is light. If it is pouring, you will get a cancellation call by 8:00 a.m.

The Living Earth Environmental School is composed of a minimum of 40 hours of study. Specific units are divided into four courses of ten hours each and one field trip. The courses investigate AIR, LAND and WATER. The units are divided into Ecology and Environmental Science, Life on Earth, and Earth Stewardship.

The Living Earth Environmental School is composed of a minimum of 40 hours of study. Specific units are divided into four courses of ten hours each and one field trip. The courses investigate AIR, LAND and WATER. The units are divided into Ecology and Environmental Science, Life on Earth, and Earth Stewardship. This registration is for Course 3, Series 4, The Living Earth – Air and Related Issues – A Zoom virtual offering – will be held September 19-20, 2024. Participants must have a desktop, laptop, tablet or iPad with an integrated camera and microphone. Participation in a Zoom practice session is required in advance of the School. They will be held on September 9th 6:00-6:30 or September 13th 10:00-10:30 to check video and audio connections. Smartphones are not permitted, unless for “hotspot’ connectivity. There are no prerequisites. Courses may be taken in any order.
