We are very excited for the Field Trip to Sleepy Cat Farm in Greenwich, Connecticut. This trip is an all-day trip, leaving at 8 am and returning around 6:30 pm. The cost of the trip is $89 and includes the bus ride, Sleepy Cat Farm, lunch, and tip to the bus driver. The trip has a maximum of 40 people. After April 10, we will open the trip to non-members, if it has not sold out. The bus will stop mid-way both ways to stretch and have a bathroom break. The day is planned out to have the tour, go to lunch at The Spotted Horse Tavern in Westport and visit the wonder shop of Terrain in Westport before heading back to West Hartford.

The bus will be leaving from the commuter lot across from Target by Route 9 at 8 am. Please call Billie Reese (860 841-2457) or Charlotte Massie (860 280-6802) if you have additional questions. Masks must be worn on the bus and proof of vaccination is required to get on the bus.

  1. Sign up and mail your check to Billie Reese at 82 Foxridge Road, West Hartford. Make your check out to “Friendship Tours” for $89. Your place on the bus will not be reserved until we have your check.
  2. Let me know what lunch you would like – the choices are Hamburger, Salmon Avocado Wrap or a Cobb Salad. Lunch will come with a drink and a dessert.

Civic Projects Committee – Moving Mulch @ Spice Bush Swamp Park
May 23 @ 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Steve Kovack, Matt Budaj and I plan to meet at Spice Bush Swamp Park to move mulch to our new garden site. If you are available to help, great! If you want to come and simply look at the sites, that’s fine too.

If you can bring a wheelbarrow and shovel, even better. Other tools that would help are rakes, string trimmers and clippers. Of course, wear gloves and other protective clothing (hats, bug spray, sunblock, goggles, … as needed).

The forecast is for a high of 77 and cloudy, so it should be a good day to be working outside.

Hope to see you there or at our Plant Sale at Noah Webster (9-3) on Saturday,
