Enjoy this special state-wide celebration of Connecticut’s stunning historic gardens with special events and activities at member sites, celebrating their gardens. Choose the gardens in your own backyard, or plan a daytrip to see those further afield. Visit the Butler-McCook House & Garden and walk through our historic Jacob Weidenmann Garden, installed by Eliza Butler McCook and her sister Mary in 1865. Today the garden is lovingly maintained by The West Hartford Garden Club.

Please plan to give us at least one hour of your time during the morning. Please bring your favorite tools for weeding and pruning. One of us will arrive at the garden by 8:30 a.m. Need a ride or directions? Let one of us know when you reply.

PARKING: Parking will be in the newly paved lot next to the Amos Bull House on South Prospect Street. We encourage you to carpool as space is limited.

We plan to work if the rain is light. If it is pouring, you will get a cancellation call by 8:00 a.m.
• If you are unable to work on your signup date, please let one of us know so that we can reschedule you and help you find a replacement for your shift.

Thank you for helping to make the Butler McCook Garden such a treasure for the greater Hartford region.

Noah Webster House Volunteer Appreciation Reception @ Noah Webster House

Please join us for the museum’s annual volunteer appreciation reception.  Hors d’oeuvres will be served at 5:30 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m., watch your friends test their word knowledge in an encore run-through of the Webster’s War of the Words game show. There are several audience participation rounds so bring your thinking cap! (We are looking for six volunteers to be contestants. Let us know if you are interested.)

Please bring gloves, clippers, shears, small rakes, and water.  We will do some shrub trimming, dead heading of the roses, planting hostas, weeding, and spreading mulch.  Many hands make light work.  Hope you can help.
