Elizabeth Park Conservancy – Annual Herb Symposium 2024 | Sensational Scented Geraniums

The Connecticut Unit’s first annual herb symposium took place in 1985 and traveled around the state until settling at the Pond House Cafe Garden Room in Elizabeth Park in 2003. This program is designed to educate and inspire everyone to incorporate herbs into their daily lives. Attendees enjoy an herb-infused morning snack and a delicious lunch prepared by the Pond House, featuring herbs chosen by the guest speaker. Browsing the herbal boutique and strolling through the many gardens in Elizabeth Park round out a perfect day!

Keynote Speaker – Sal Gilbertie

A leading expert in herbs, Sal Gilbertie is the president of Gilbertie’s Herb Gardens, Inc., of Westport and Easton, Connecticut, where he resides. A USDA Certified Organic herb and vegetable supplier to garden centers across the country, his business has been a family affair for three generations.  Established in 1922 by Sal’s grandfather, Sal, his wife, Marie, and his four children are involved in its operation today. Sal is the author of several books, Herbs for the Holidays, Home Gardening at Its Best, and Kitchen Herbs, which received an International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) award. Sal has appeared on many television and radio shows, including Martha Stewart Living, Home Matters on the Discovery Channel, and the Home Show on the Lifetime Channel.
