Take the day, carpool with friends, and enjoy a tour of three of Fairfield County’s finest nurseries.
We’ll start at Oliver Nurseries (1159 Bronson Rd., Fairfield), at 9:30 am, to explore and enjoy the exquisitely landscaped grounds of one of the premium specialty nurseries in New England and enjoy an alpine trough planting demonstration given by Lori Chips, a well known expert in alpine and trough gardening, propagation and cultivation.
Then it’s off to Gilbertie’s Herbs & Garden Center (7 Sylvan Lane, Westport), to visit the largest herb plant grower on the East Coast. Established in 1922, Gilbertie’s is a 4th generation, family-owned grower and garden center that has been in operation for over 100 years. The grounds are surrounded by theme gardens.
Next up is Terrain (561 Post Rd. East, Westport), where we will shop the wonderfully curated and displayed collection of nature-inspired items and grab lunch at the Terrain Café—or you can bring your own lunch. Located in a 17,000 square foot converted Cadillac dealership from the 1940’s, browse a lush assortment of indoor houseplants and containers in the greenhouse. Outside, there is a nursery filled with locally sourced plants, outdoor containers, and furniture.
